Print Guide FAQ for Beginners

1. What file formats do you accept?

One file per design—or for multi-page jobs like booklets, stack all pages in reading order (front to back) in a single PDF.

2. What’s this “bleed,” “margin,” and “quiet area” stuff all about?

  • Bleed: Extra space—usually 3mm—around your design’s edges to ensure a clean trim with no white borders. For an A3 (297 x 420mm), your file should be 303 x 426mm with bleed included. It’s a must for edge-to-edge perfection.
  • Margin: The safe zone inside the trim line—keep text and key bits at least 5mm from the edge so nothing gets cropped.
  • Quiet Area: A buffer (3-5mm inside the margin) where you avoid clutter. It keeps your design balanced—logos and text won’t hug the edge too tight.

3. Can I upload multiple designs in one order?

Yes! For products like business cards or stickers with multiple names or variations, send one PDF with all designs in sequence—front, back, front, back, etc. We’ll sort it from there.

4. What sizes do you offer?

It depends on the product:

  • Business Cards: Standard 85 x 55mm (91 x 61mm with bleed), optional 6mm rounded corners.
  • Posters: A3 up to A1 and custom sizes.
  • Booklets: A6 to A4, portrait or landscape.
  • Stickers: Custom shapes and sizes—just include bleed.

5. What paper options are available?

We’ve got a range to suit your needs, just ask us! Some basic examples though would be:

  • Business Cards: 350gsm to 450gsm. Various finishes.
  • Posters: 130gsm in satin, or 120 matte works best
  • Booklets: 130gsm gloss or 170gsm silk for pages and then self cover or go heavier.
  • Stickers: Lots of options on these – reach out for more info

6. How fast can you deliver or arrange collection?

Our turnaround is quick, and we offer next-day options for a variety of products if you’re in a rush.

We’ll confirm timings with your quote—get your artwork in, and we’ll keep things moving.

7. How do I make sure my design looks right—especially if I’m making it myself?

Not everyone has the budget for a designer, so of course people use tools like Canva or Adobe Express to create their own designs—and we’re here to help you get them print-ready:

  • Set to CMYK: Print needs CMYK colors, while online tools often start in RGB (screen colors). If you’re making these yourself in Canva, export your PDF and tweak to CMYK in another tool if needed (free ones like Photopea work great). Adobe Express offers CMYK on paid plans—set it in the color picker.
  • Check Sizing: For an 85 x 55mm business card, set your canvas to 91 x 61mm (with 3mm bleed). Canva’s templates are a solid base—just adjust the size manually. Adobe Express lets you input custom dimensions from the start. Always double-check before downloading.
  • Get 300dpi: Canva’s “PDF Print” option delivers 300dpi—choose it when you save. Adobe Express might need a paid plan for 300dpi PDFs; free exports are lower, so plan accordingly. High DPI keeps your print crisp.
  • Add Bleed & Margins: Extend your background 3mm past the edge for bleed—Canva requires you to set this up yourself, while Adobe Express has bleed guides on paid tiers. Keep text 5mm inside for margins. Our templates fit both tools perfectly.
  • Proof It: Download your file and zoom in—blurry edges or odd colors mean DPI or CMYK needs a tweak. We’re happy to check it for you if you’re unsure.

8. What if I don’t have a design ready?

No worries—not everyone’s a designer! Try tools like Canva or Adobe Express to whip something up, or we can connect you with pros who can help. Drop us a line, and we’ll get you sorted.

9. Can I order small runs or just one item?

Absolutely. From single posters to bulk booklets, we’re flexible. Order what you need.
